Presents new work by Stony Brook University’s graduating Master of Fine Arts students. The exhibition includes painting, drawing, prints, sculpture, installation and video works by Julia Miller and Joseph Santarpia. Both artists are degree candidates in Stony Brook University Department of Art’s Master of Fine Arts program.

ARTISTS AS INNOVATORS: Celebrating Three Decades of NYSCA/NYFA Fellowships

ARTISTS AS INNOVATORS featured works by 22 NYFA/NYSCA Artist Fellows including Elia Alba, Dawoud Bey, Sanford Biggers, Ross Bleckner, Chitra Ganesh, Faith Ringgold, Dread Scott, Shinique Smith and Fred Wilson. The works on display showed how the fellows addressed pressing and often controversial
issues through their art, including racism, gender equality, sexual orientation, immigration,
and globalization.
THE VIEW FROM HERE: Contemporary Perspectives From Senegal

Featuring work created since 2010, THE VIEW FROM HERE offers a wide panorama of art practice from the perspective of artists—individuals who uncover aspects of their own identity as they reflect on contemporary life in Senegal. Collectively, their work acts as a portrait of how one African country can inspire creative minds, balancing universal questions with local characteristics.

This exciting annual art exhibition is dedicated to celebrating outstanding artwork created on campus by Stony Brook University undergraduate students selected by Art Department studio art faculty.

ICONICITY
January 26-February 23, 2019
ICONICITY brings together contemporary artworks that examine the concept, construction, and mythology of the icon. The artists in the exhibition explore ideas ranging from the connection between Medieval devotional iconography and emojis to the religious fervor of technology. Guest curated by Munich-based artist and curator Gretta Louw, the exhibition includes video, software and net art, textile art, and digital prints by nine international artists and artist groups.
Artists include: American Artist, Carla Gannis, Jan Robert Leegte, Gretta Louw, Keiichi Matsuda, Owen Mundy, Tabita Rezaire, Alicia Ross, and the Warnayaka Art Centre.
