July 7 – 31, 2015
In conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of the Stony Brook Film Festival at the Staller Center for the Arts, the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of vintage film posters from July 7 to 31. The exhibition includes 38 original vintage film posters from the twentieth century.
Originating in the late nineteenth century to advertise movies, printed film posters have come to be regarded as works of art and collectors’ items. This exhibition features a selection of some of the twentieth century’s most compelling American and International film posters.
Vintage posters from classic films such as My Fair Lady and West Side Story are featured along with fan favorites including Pulp Fiction, The Outsiders and Rocky. In addition, a series of Charlie Chaplin silent films is screened on a continuous loop in the Gallery.
The Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday 12-4 pm July 7-31. In addition, the Gallery is open all ten evenings of the Film Festival, July 16-25, beginning one hour before the first screening until the last screening begins. Admission is free.
Join us for the Stony Brook Film Festival Opening Night Party on Thursday, July 16 at 10pm!
The Opening Night Feature Film begins at 8pm, with dessert and drinks after the screening in the Gallery. Tickets $25 subject to availability.
