The Stony Brook University Department of Psychology was founded in 1960 and is one of the university’s largest and strongest programs.

The Department offers two undergraduate degrees, a BA and a BS in psychology, a terminal MA in psychology, and doctoral degrees in four areas of psychology: Cognitive Science, Clinical, Integrative Neuroscience, and Social & Health Psychology

 

The Psychology Department is a highly ranked department, whose faculty are distinguished, well-funded, and productive scholars. Dr. Daniel O'Leary is now a member of the Standing Data & Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) for the nationwide Edward R. Roybal Centers for Translational Research in the Behavioral and Social Sciences of Aging.

Dr. Antonio Freitas has been appointed to the position of Associate Editor at the British Journal of Health Psychology.

 

Announcements

Psychology is pleased to offer funding on federal graduate training grants to eligible Ph.D. students from a National Science Foundation Research Traineeship and a Department of Education’s Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) grant (pending).

Clinical Psychology PhD Program:  December 1

Social & Health PhD Program: December 1

Cognitive Science PhD Program:  January 15 (priority deadline December 15)

Integrative Neuroscience PhD Program: January 15 (priority deadline December 15)

Note: All of Psychology’s PhD offers of admission include a stipend and tuition scholarship.       

To receive full consideration for additional fellowships, domestic applicants to the Cognitive Science and Integrative Neuroscience Programs should submit by 12/15.
