Resolution Authorizing the naming of a new strength and conditioning center for student athletes as the "Dubin Family Athletic Performance Center"
WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn R. Dubin, '78, a Stony Brook University Alumnus, after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, distinguished himself in the financial sector as co-founder of Highbridge Capital, a hedge fund with $21 billion under management; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn R. Dubin, football alumnus, has committed $4.3 million for a new strength and conditioning center for student athletes; and
WHEREAS, the proposed 7,600 square-foot strength and conditioning center is slated for completion in Fall 2011 and will be located in the squash court area of the Stony Brook Indoor Sports Complex. This center will be instrumental in providing Stony brook Coaches and student-athletes with the facilities necessary to recruit and compete at the highest level; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Glenn R. Dubin has previously demonstrated his exemplary philanthropic commitment to promising students in need when in 2005, he made a $1 million gift for scholarships to help students from his old neighborhood of Washington Heights follow in his footsteps and obtain a Stony Brook education;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE STONY BROOK LOCAL COUNCIL, THAT:
In recognition of football alumnus, Glenn R. Dubin and his strong commitment to Stony Brook University Athletics, the Stony Brook Local Council authorizes the naming of the new strength and conditioning center for student athletes as the "Dubin Family Athletic Performance Center" and furthermore,
The Stony Brook Local Council authorizes Chairman, Kevin Law to transmit this resolution to the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York.
