Art History & Crafts: Celebrating Black History Month

The Zuccaire Gallery presents Art History & Crafts a bi-monthly virtual arts and crafts event led by the Zuccaire Gallery's student education team. Each program will include a brief presentation and exploration of an artist’s work, followed by an art-making activity.

Join the Educational Interns for a fun and interactive zoom art presentation followed by a craft workshop themed around the work of artist Mickalene Thomas. Come prepared to make a Diva Self-Portrait to celebrate loving oneself with body positivity.

Join the Zuccaire Gallery interns for an educational presentation and craft about artist Toyin Ojih Odutola this Sunday, February 28 @5pm.  Discover the artists images, techniques and how she represents meaning and identity through her art. Finish by creating a drawing in the style of the artist.

Art History & Crafts: Environmental Awareness Month

Saturday, April 10 at 7:30pm, featuring artist Annemarie Waugh & Evan Joo

April is Environmental Awareness Month! To celebrate, our Art History and Craft events this month are environmentally themed. Join us Saturday, April 10 at 7:30pm for an artist talk with Annemarie Waugh, a presentation by Evan Joo from the Ashley Schiff Preserve, and a guided craft to make your own planter.

In honor of environmental awareness month, we're making crafts from 'found items'. Collect your own materials to make a homemade planter.  Suggested supplies: metal can or plastic container, glue (hot glue gun preferable) , sharpie, stickers, and any other decorative materials.

About the presenters: 
Annemarie Waugh is a graduating MFA Studio Artist at Stony Brook University. Her work is currently on view at the Zuccaire Gallery in Four: MFA Thesis Exhibition 2021.



Evan Joo is the Alumni Representative and Social Media Manager of the Ashley Schiff Preserve and has a BA in Ecosystems and Human Impact from SBU, and an MS in Sustainability Management from Columbia University.
