AMETEK Thermal Scholarship Fund
The Ametek Thermal Scholarship provides need-based scholarship support, in the amount
of $5,000, to benefit a mechanical engineering major entering their junior year, with
$2,500 to be funded in their junior year and $2,500 to be funded in their senior
year, who has displayed an interest in pursuing a career in heat transfer/thermal
sciences. Preference will be given to a Long Island-based student with demonstrated
financial need (as determined by the FAFSA). Applicants must have earned a cumulative
grade point average of 2.75 entering into their junior year and must maintain an overall
grade point average of 2.75 throughout their last two years of study.
To qualify for the AMETEK Thermal Scholarship, interested students must:
A. Be declared as a Mechanical Engineering major entering their junior year, where they have displayed an interest in pursuing a career in heat transfer or thermal sciences
B. Be enrolled as a full time undergraduate student (minimum 12 credits) in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences for the full academic years (BOTH the fall and the spring semesters)
C. Must maintain an overall GPA of a 2.75/4.0 throughout the last two years of study
D. Show demonstrated financial need (as determined by the FAFSA)
Preference will be given to a Long-Island resident
Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
1. A completed application form
2. A one-page, single-spaced statement addressing:
a. How this scholarship may make a difference in your education
b. Why you have chosen Mechanical Engineering as your major, your interest in the area of heat transfer/thermal sciences and your career goals
c. Relevant information about your financial need
3. A resume
Important Notes:
All scholarship awards are subject to renewal of the scholarship by the donor and receipt of funding for these awards.
If selected to receive this scholarship, you will be required to furnish this office with a letter of thanks to the donor of the scholarship. Details will be specified in the scholarship offer letter.
Students who are in their graduate career of an accelerated degree program are ineligible to receive an undergraduate scholarship award.
