Conference Travel Support
CIE scholars are strongly encouraged to attend professional conferences and meetings to showcase their research and to expand their professional networks. To this end, the CIE provides financial support to eligible CIE scholars who attend a professional conference or meeting related to their studies. Dissertation Fellowships
Joyce Turner Dissertation Fellowship Award
- The Joyce Turner Dissertation Fellowship Award recognizes an advanced Stony Brook University Doctoral Student in the Humanities or Social Sciences disciplines whose research investigates issues of race, class, gender, sexuality or ethnicity. Turner Dissertation Fellowship
- The W. Burghardt Turner Dissertation Fellowship provides supports to highly qualified underrepresented students in the preparation of their dissertation. This opportunity is open to Stony Brook University Doctoral Students from underrepresented or other disadvantaged backgrounds who have not previously been supported by the Turner Fellowship Program. Emergency Support Award

Research Grants
Turner Summer Research Grants
- Current Turner Fellows can compete for summer funding to be used to conduct exploratory or continuing research towards their thesis/dissertation.
