Biography
Tom Mangano joined the English Teacher Education Program at Stony Brook in the 2016 where he serves as Director of Student Teaching and Clinical Field Experience. Before joining the faculty at Stony Brook, Dr. Mangano was Senior Adjunct Professor in the School of Education at Dowling College from 1995-2015. Dr. Mangano earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from City College of the City University of New York. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in English/Education from C.W. Post College of Long Island University, and a Doctor of Educational Administration and Technology Degree from Dowling College.
Dr. Mangano has New York State Certification in English 7-12, Elementary Education N-8, School Building Leadership, and School District Leadership. He was awarded a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration, a Professional Diploma in Educational Administration from Hofstra University and a Hofstra-Cornell Certificate of Management Studies.
Before accepting college and university positions, Dr. Mangano was an English Teacher in the East Meadow Public School District. During his career in East Meadow Dr. Mangano also served as Curriculum Director for the district, and 1991 he was appointed Principal of the Meadowbrook Elementary School, a position that he held until 2008.
