Funding for STEM students which may be applied to eligible expenses such as undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and housing for 1 to 2 academic years (depending on whether one applies as a sophomore or as a junior).
Eligibility:
Sophomores or juniors (juniors preferred)
Natural Science, Mathematics, or Engineering fields only
U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. permanent resident
Must have research experience and plan to pursue a Ph.D. in one of the fields listed above
Students who plan to study medicine are NOT eligible for the Goldwater Scholarship unless they are planning for a career as a researcher rather than as a practicing physician.

Funding for up to four years of Ph.D.-level study for students using computational modeling or simulation to advance their primary field of study in engineering and the physical, computer, mathematical, or life sciences.
