Message from the Director of Athletics

As Director of Athletics at Stony Brook University, I have the tremendous honor of serving the university community by leading a program that is emblematic of a world-class AAU institution. Our vision as a department is to positively transform the life of each student-athlete while winning championships, inspiring campus pride and shining a spotlight on the incredible work of our faculty and staff.  

The role of intercollegiate athletics at Stony Brook is vital as the university continues to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals throughout our region, our state, our country and the world. Stony Brook Athletics supports the fundamental belief that students possess the ability to change the world, and that it is our responsibility to partner with campus leadership and faculty to support our student-athletes in pursuit of their dreams.

I am very appreciative of the time and energy provided by the faculty, staff and students who comprise the Intercollegiate Athletics Board. As we pursue our aspirations, the IAB is an integral partner. Collectively, we have a shared commitment to advance the mission of the university, and our collaborative spirit allows us to address issues that impact our campus.

As a premier AAU public research institution, Athletics must play an essential role in the enhancement of Stony Brook’s institutional profile on a local, regional, national and global level. This can best be attained through a program that not only achieves competitive success at the highest level but also holds itself accountable to the highest standards of integrity and academic achievement.
