Corinne Penner
Piano, Chamber Music Coach
Pianist Corinne Penner is currently pursuing a DMA in performance at Stony Brook University,
where she recently received her MM under Christina Dahl. She also holds a Bachelor
of Music degree from Biola University’s Conservatory of Music, where she studied with
Li-shan Hung and performed several times with the Biola Symphony Orchestra.
Corinne has a rich musical training in both solo and collaborative piano, spending
several summers at the Aspen Music Festival and receiving fellowships at SongFest
and the Tanglewood Music Center. She has also been a prizewinner in various solo,
chamber, and concerto competitions, including the BMC Zimmerli Piano Competition and
the Cremona International Competition for Pianists in Cremona, Italy, where she was
awarded second place and two jury prizes for the best performances of a contemporary
work and an Italian work in 2014. Performing frequently in many kinds of master classes,
she has played for artists such as Menahem Pressler, Roger Vignoles, William Grant
Naboré, Boris Berman, Julian Martin, Kevin Murphy, and others. Corinne has also enjoyed
teaching in a variety of capacities in affiliation with Stony Brook University, including
teaching undergraduate lessons, instructing group keyboard courses, and coaching in
the Community Chamber Music Program and the Young Artist Program.
