Alda Center for Communicating Science : At the Alda Center, learn how to connect with an audience through your presentations and writing. Grad students and postdocs can take these one-credit courses for free. Postdocs enroll through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs

Business and Innovation : Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry - Center for Biotechnology’s Innovative one-semester, evening course on developing bioscience commercial applications. Grad students may apply to take this for free.

How to Build a Startup: The Lean Launchpad - Cross-listed BUS/EST 3-credit course on taking a good idea to a great business. Taught each semester. Postdocs enroll through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

Writing Courses and Writing Center : WRT 621 is a graduate level writing course taught each semester for all disciplines. The Writing Center also has resources and guidance for writers.

Introduction to Science Policy : GRD 520 is a new one-credit graduate course offering graduate students and postdocs an introduction to science, technology and innovation policy. The course meets for two hours a week for ten weeks, featuring guest speakers from the science policy community. Postdocs enroll through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

Career Center : The Career Center offers career resources, counseling and information including job skill workshops, career fairs and self-assessments like the MBTI.

Graduate and Postdoctoral Professional Development : Graduate and Postdoctoral Professional Development in the Graduate School offers resources, advising and programs on PhD career planning, fellowships and professional development topics. 

Center for Inclusive Education : The CIE fosters diversity at SBU through a series of community building and professional development programs.

Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching : The CELT Offers workshops for students, postdocs and faculty on pedagogy and other training topics.

Your Department and Graduate Programs : Talk to your local faculty and your program about support for career planning and exploration, such as interesting alumni who could come back to talk at SBU.
