Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery to Feature New Work by Kate Gilmore

A new work commissioned by the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery will be presented in the exhibition "Kate Gilmore: Top Drawer" at the Gallery in the Staller Center from Saturday, September 6, through Saturday, October 18. A reception and performance will be held on Saturday, September 27, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public and the artist will be present.
"Kate Gilmore: Top Drawer" features a new, site-specific work of sculpture, performance and video. Gilmore creates large-scale sculptural structures that present physical obstacles to the artist as she maneuvers around and through them, recording her performance in a single video shot. "For me," Gilmore states, "the fun part of making work is not knowing what it will end up being. Understanding the materials involved and my capabilities as a body, but not having a full comprehension of what the end product will be. It allows me to be more spontaneous and react to the elements in the structure more immediately."
The exhibition will present the new sculpture and video piece, entitled Top Drawer, as well as photographs and videos of previous works.
