50 Years of Art at the Zuccaire Gallery

2025 marks a remarkable milestone at the Staller Center for the Arts: the 50th anniversary of the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery, a space that has championed creativity, innovation, and artistic endeavors for half a century. Since its founding, the Gallery has served as a vital home for exhibitions that bring together artists, students, faculty, and the larger community, while fostering dialogue, experimentation, and a deep appreciation for the visual arts.
To celebrate this anniversary, the Zuccaire Gallery has created an exhibition highlighting the exhibitions and artists who helped shape the Gallery’s identity over the last five decades. The project features a vibrant blend of archival photographs, installation views, interview excerpts, and unforgettable works of art drawn from some of the Gallery’s most memorable shows.
Over the years, the Gallery has presented a wide variety of notable and influential artists and exhibitions. For example:
- Roy Lichtenstein
- Yoko Ono
- Guerrilla Girls
- Andy Warhol
- Cindy Sherman
- Jaune Quick-to-See Smith
- Howardena Pindell
- Faith Ringgold
- The Gallery has also remained deeply invested in student and faculty work. Each year, the Senior Show & URECA Art Exhibition showcases graduating studio art students who present their culminating creative projects across media, including painting, sculpture, digital art, photography and new media. The annual MFA thesis exhibition presents new work by graduate student artists completing their master of fine arts. Every three years, the Gallery features work by the Art Department’s internationally renowned studio art faculty.
