AN OVERVIEW OF ONGOING
CONSTRUCTION ACROSS EAST CAMPUS
The multiphase Stony Brook University Hospital garage projects represent a critical investment in the infrastructure of hospital facilities. These necessary projects will allow for maintenance and longevity, provide structural integrity and safety, and enhance the functionality and efficiency of the facilities. Investing in structural upgrades and repairs to the parking infrastructure also helps avoid more costly and disruptive repairs in the future.
PROJECT A
Project A primarily focuses on fortifying the structural integrity of the Health Sciences Center (HSC) and Hospital Garages. This involves bolstering the support systems by enlarging columns and beams, executing full-depth repairs on the top floor of the HSC garage, upgrading drainage and piping, replacing waterproofing, addressing expansion joint issues, and refurbishing top floor railings. Additionally, exterior parapet wall painting is scheduled to prepare for subsequent phases, namely Projects B and C.

PROJECT B
Project B, slated for completion following Project A, concentrates on HSC #1. It necessitates the complete removal and replacement of the concrete slab while reinforcing the top deck with enhanced rebar details. This phase also encompasses enlarging beams, installing new drainage and piping systems to ensure optimal functionality.
Anticipated completion: August 2024

PROJECT C
Project C, to be executed concurrently with Project B and after Project A, targets the Hospital Garage. It entails the removal of asphalt, repairs to post-tension cables, comprehensive concrete restoration, replacement of reinforcement bars, installation of new expansion joints, drainage, and piping. Moreover, a new epoxy waterproofing system will be implemented to enhance the garage's longevity and resilience.
Anticipated completion: December 2024
