Testing Accommodation and Requests

If you are eligible for testing accommodations such as extended time, a reader, a scribe, or an alternate testing site, you will need to work with SASC to coordinate these services.  The SASC Testing Center can administer both paper and online exams.

To be guaranteed a testing seat, you will need to submit a test request at least five days before regular exams and at least two weeks before the first University final exam.

During the Fall and Spring semesters, students may request an exam using the online scheduling tool.  Exams should be requested five days in advance. Students who need to schedule an exam with fewer than five days' notice may use the Alternate Test Request Form.  Students will need to log in with their SBU NedID and password to access the form.

During Summer and Winter sessions, students who need to schedule an exam should use the Alternate Test Request Form. Exams should be requested five days in advance whenever possible.

Students will receive a confirmation email once the exam is booked for the SASC Testing Center.  Please note that exams scheduled through the Alternate Test Request Form will be scheduled during regular business hours, and you will receive an email once the exam is booked.

Once an exam has been requested, faculty will receive an automatic notification email.  Our Testing Center may proctor both paper exams and online exams.

Test Start Time:

Students should take their exams at the same time as the class.  If an alternate test date or time is requested, students should contact their instructor to email permission for the alternate time to sasc@stonybrook.edu  The SASC Testing Center can only provide an appointment at an alternate time with faculty permission.

Scheduling a Make-Up Exam:

Students who are requesting a makeup exam will need to provide permission from the instructor for the exam.  Please email this permission to sasc@stonybrook.edu.  Once permission is granted, the makeup exam can be scheduled. The SASC Testing Center can only provide an appointment for make-up exams with faculty permission.
