    About the Program

    SBU offers students the opportunity to experience International Summer School at Freie Universität Berlin, one of Germany’s top ranked and most prestigious universities.  Participants will take two courses while immersed in one of the world’s most exciting and cosmopolitan cities known for its history, diverse architecture, museums, contemporary art scene, and universities.

    Program Highlights: 

    • Guided Tour through the Reichstag Building and the Federal Parliament
    • River Boat Tour through Downtown Berlin
    • Weekly movie screening presenting popular and well-known German films
    • Student ID that gives students access to reduced priced meals at the Freie Universität dining hall, as well as student tickets for sights, museums etc.
    • Access to libraries and computing, and printing facilities on the campus
    • Welcome and farewell buffet

    Living Arrangements Participants will be housed in single rooms in shared apartments near campus.
    Additional Information A Partner University program is a study abroad experience where students are nominated/accepted by Stony Brook University, and enroll at a partner institution. In most cases SBU faculty or staff are NOT traveling with participants.
    Program Housing Statement: Stony Brook University is required to comply with the housing policies of the host country, partner institution and/or hotel/hostel. These policies may include requirements such as sex-based housing placement.

    Academic Policies

    • This is a partner university program. Applications must be submitted to Stony Brook University first. Information regarding the next steps in the process will be distributed to students who have received formal nominations by their International Programs Coordinator.
    • Grades earned in a Partner University program WILL NOT calculate towards the cumulative GPA for SBU students.
    • Non-SBU students must contact their home university regarding their grade and credit transfer policy.
    • Students are required to retain syllabi for each virtual course.
