Fall 2024
Events are added on a rolling basis. Please note the University Scholars Event policy:
- Scholars are required to attend one event a semester, unless they are first year first time students who are required to attend two events a semester for their first year.
- Only events that are designated by a "*" can be used to satisfy the event requirement.
- To receive event credit, students must arrive on-time and remain for the entirety of the event as participation is required.
- Once you attend an event, you should use this form to record your attendance within 48 hours to earn credit.

Kick off the start of the Fall 2024 semester with us! Join the University Scholars Executive Committee for fun in the sun and a chance to meet and bond with your fellow Scholars. Enjoy a sunny day of yard games and meet new friends.

Want to give back to your community and make a difference?
The Center for Service Learning and Community Service (CSLCS) helps students participate in both on and off campus community service and partners with hundreds of nonprofit organizations on Long Island, New York City, and beyond to address a wide variety of causes.
Getting involved in service also builds critical skills, creates access to networking opportunities, and helps students gain meaningful experiences to add to their resume.
In this workshop meet the CSLCS, discover how to start exploring service opportunities, and learn about our upcoming programs and events.

The University Scholars Executive Committee welcomes you to participate in making cards for kids! Cards for Hospitalized Kids (CFHK) is an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy, and magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards. All crafting materials will be provided.

This is a pre-registration event designed to help University Scholars "Spring into
action" and create/check off items on their "enrollment" to-do list before Spring
2025 enrollment begins. Topics will include: an overview of the University Scholars
requirements, how to resolve holds, types of error messages that may occur during
registration, and how to schedule a future appointment with an academic advisor.

University Scholars Destress Fest *

Join us at the University Scholars De-Stress Fest for a relaxing and fun-filled break from finals preparation! The event will feature a presentation by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) on relaxation techniques, offering practical tips to reduce stress. You’ll also creative crafts, as well as games to unwind with friends. Plus, you can make your own personalized finals de-stress kit, choosing from snacks, fidget toys, and other soothing items. Come relax, recharge, and get ready to tackle finals with a clear mind!
University Honors Programs Petting Away Life Stress (PALS) with CPO and CAPS *
Tuesday, December 10th
5-7 pm, Union Lobby
This event offers students the opportunity to participate in animal assisted interactions designed to promote coping, connection, and relaxation. In addition to this, it provides the opportunity to learn about new strategies for managing stress and resources available on campus to support them. The Center for Prevention and Outreach (CPO) and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) work together to coordinate campus PALS activities in collaboration with Pet Partners.
In order for University Scholars Students to earn credit towards the event requirement, they must visit the CPO table*
