Mentoring
Scholars Fellows
Fellows are selected in the Fall semester of their freshman year to serve as mentors and Teaching Assistants for SCH 101 courses in the following Fall. This is a highly competitive program, with only 12–14 spots available each year. To qualify, Fellows must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, be in good judicial standing, pass their SCH 101 course with a satisfactory grade, and have no record of academic dishonesty.
Selected Fellows enroll in a 1-credit training course (SCH 275) during the Spring semester of their freshman year. This course provides training on University policies and procedures, general education requirements, effective teaching assistantship, student development theory, and best practices in teaching and learning.
In the following Fall, Fellows enroll in SCH 276, a practicum course that earns them EXP+, where they work as Teaching Assistants for SCH 101 and participate in monthly reflections with their peers.

Scholars Mentors
The Scholars Mentors is an opportunity for upperclass students to receive 1 upper-division credit to serve as a mentor and role model to a few incoming first-year students in the same (or similar) area of study. Students also receive EXP+ credit for serving as a mentor. To apply to be a Scholars Mentor, Scholars must have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and be actively coded as a University Scholar. This opportunity is open to Sophomores (as long as they are not also taking SCH 276), Juniors, and Seniors.
